If that’s just for labor, that’s a little high. I had a pump done in a 92 Camry for about that, that included the new pump, thermostat and coolant for a little less than that. I’d do a little shopping.
They aren’t lying, it is very labor intensive to change to water pump on your car, make sure this is a job they have done before, because if they haven’t they can ***** up more than they will fix!
If its the coupe with a 4cyl or V6 then its 3.6 hours and yes, that includes removing the timing junk.
If its the 4 cyl sedan, then its 4.2 hours labor
If its the V6 sedan, then its 6.3 hours labor.
These times are out of the Mitchell Estimator which is what 90 % of shops use. Then you have antifreeze and parts prices.
Honestly, if that car has over 100 thousand miles and you never had the timing belt replaced, now would be a good time to do it. the only extra charge would be for the belt as they have to remove it to do the belt anyway.

That is a little steep… our shop would charge $280 Labor on that vehicle… shop around a little more.
- Good Luck!
